Mawlid and some Classical Views

The Salafi-Najdi oriented thinking people (who are against Mawlid and showing their LOVE for Habib of Allah peace be upon him) don’t realise the meaning of Bidah and once you teach them they just move the Goal posts they are all limited with the 'ilm they don't know by their know definition of Bidah that the Modern Quran is a Bidah, the Quran was only written down in Rasm = lines and only later did the i'jam = dots come and then Tashkil = fatha damma kasra and Harakat = vowels short and long and adding Hamza and Tanwin suffixes. These  were invented  over 100 years later after by the passing the Prophet  salla-Allahu `alayhi wa sallam.

The Current Quran with all its Modern Bi'dah diacritical-(a sign placed above or below a character or letter) was invented in the (718-791 AD) by Khalil ibn Ahmad. Were as the First Public Mawlid was done by the Sahabah as per hadith in other article. And Large known record public Mawlid is traced back to a public commemoration of the Mawlid in the Rihla-Travel log of Ibn Jubayr's (1145–1217 AD)

Ibn Taymiyya's Opinion On The Celebration Of The Mawlid?
This is Imam Ibn Taymiyya's opinion about Mawlid from: "the Collected Fatwas," ("Majma' Fatawi Ibn Taymiyya,") Vol. 23, p. 163: "fa-t'adheem al-Mawlid wat-tikhaadhuhu mawsiman qad yaf'alahu ba'ad an-naasi wa yakunu lahu feehi ajra `adheem lihusni qasdihi t'adheemihi li-Rasulillahi, salla-Allahu `alayhi wa sallam" "To celebrate and to honor the birth of the Prophet (s) and to take it as an honored season, as some of the people are doing, is good and in it there is a great reward, because of their good intentions in honoring the Prophet (s)."

The Student of Shaykh Ibn Taymiyya, Shaykh Ibn Kathir
The Student of Shaykh Ibn Taymiyya, Shaykh Ibn Kathir says in this book "Dhikra Mawlid Rasulullah""The Night of the Prophet's (s) birth is a magnificent, noble, blessed and holy night, a night of bliss for the Believers, pure, radiant with lights and of immeasurable price."

One of the most educated Salafi- Scholar Approves of Celebrating Mawlid
Shaykh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, likely the most renowned Salafi scholar of the 20th century Approves of Celebrating Mawlid "Actually, celebrating the Prophet's birthday means celebrating the birth of Islam..."

The Effect of Observing Mawlid on Unbelievers
Expressing happiness and celebrating the Prophet on his birthday causes even unbelievers, by Allah's favor and mercy, to gain some benefit. This is mentioned in Sahih Bukhari. Bukhari said in his hadith that every Monday, Abu Lahab in his grave is released from punishment because he freed his handmaid Thuwayba when she brought him the news of the Prophet's birth.

This hadith is mentioned in Bukhari in the book of Nikah, and Ibn Kathir mentions it in his books Sirat al-Nabi Vol.1, p. 124, Mawlid al-Nabi p. 21, and al-Bidaya p. 272-273. The hafiz Shamsuddin Muhammad ibn Nasiruddin ad-Dimashqi wrote on this the following verses in his book Mawrid as-sadi fi Mawlid al-Hadi: "If this, a kafir who was condemned to hell eternally with "Perish his hands" [sura 111], is said to enjoy a respite every Monday because he rejoiced in Ahmad: what then do you think of the servant who, all his life, was happy with Ahmad, and died saying, "One"?"

**To help Confused souls to follow the great majority and the great majority Do MAWLID in the whole world  for nearly 1000 years Billions of Muslims have taken part in the Mawlid to this day**

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Without doubt my Ummah will never be gathered in misguidance. Whenever you see disagreement, then hold fast to the Sawad-e-Azam (the great majority).” (Ibn Majah) The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Allah will never allow my Ummah to unite upon misguidance and incorrect beliefs. Allah’s mercy, blessings and protection are with the largest group of Muslims.  And he who deviates from this largest group of Muslims will be thrown into Hell.”(Tirmidhi)

[Ibn Kathir in Al Bidayah wan Nihayah, Volume 2, Page No. 166]

So if you are really Anti Mawlid and non of what Daleel is good enough then we can only  give this Hadith in our closing remarks, then go And Indeed everyone rejoices in the MAWLID  except for SATAN and his counterparts and thus you are his counterparts if you really have an Major Anti Mawlid issue.

Daleel from the Sabaha celebrating Mawlid

****Mawlid Hadith: Mawlid at the Time of the Sahabah-Companions ****

http://www.daralhadith.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Mawlid-Hadith.jpg

Assalamu Alaikum
Once again the month of Rabi al-Awwal has witnessed the launch of campaigns to stop people attending gatherings known as “Mawlid”.  What I have found disturbing is the dissemination of misleading information on the issue from individuals who do not appear to be able to look calmly at the issue, but rather blindly copy and paste articles against the Mawlid without verifying the accuracy of what they are spreading.

The above hadith (from Sunan al-Nasai) is one of the clearest evidences for the permissibility of the Mawlid, and clearly shows the companions gathering together to thank Allah (Most High) and give thanks for blessing them with the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace).  Are the Mawlid gatherings not what is being described in the hadith?

I have more to say on this topic but do not have the time at the moment, however I will suffice with the following points as summaries of more detailed discussions.

1. Definition of Mawlid gatherings:   It is not a birthday gathering as in the conventional western sense, but a gathering mentioning the sirah of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) which without saying would include a mention of the blessed birth.  These gatherings usually include recitation of the Quran and singing of Qasaid, the vast majority of them being held throughout history until today without any haram actions intermixed.

2. Mawlid is an issue of Fiqh not Aqidah:  Being an issue of fiqh it was dealt with Muslim scholars of the past, the vast majority of whom gave the fatwa of its permissibility and it being recommended.  Amongst these giants of Islamic scholarship are Hafiz Ibn Hajar, Imam al-Suyuti, Ibn Abidin and numerous others including Shah Abd al-Aziz al-Dihlawi.  Likewise being an issue of fiqh which mainstream ulema gave fatwa on, it is not permitted to then condemn those who attend such gatherings where no unlawful practices take place.  Side note: I was astonished to read on an Arabic language site an author boldly claim that the permissibility of the Mawlid was only a minority position in Muslim scholarship and the majority held it to be impermissible?!? (Did the author accidentally miss the countless verdicts of it being permitted/recommended throughout the centuries?)

3. Two Approaches: Muslim scholars took two approaches to argue for Mawlid gatherings being permitted/recommended.  First:  Mawlid gatherings existed at the time of the salaf but were not known by this name (refer to the Fatwa of Shaykh Abd al-Hayy al-Luknawi and the hadith above).  Second:  Mawlid gatherings in this exact form did not exist at the time of the salaf but their basis is present in the Shariah which has given scope for them to take place, thus they cannot be considered as a bad innovation.  (This is the approach of Hafiz Ibn Hajar and Imam al-Suyuti).

4. All in a name:  If the name of Mawlid gatherings was changed to “Sirah Lesson” where some qasaid are also sung how many people would find it problematic?  Indeed if you were to invite them to such an event they would probably not even notice they were actually attending a Mawlid.  This is the approach I have seen being taken in Madinah al-Munawwarah where outside the place of a well known weekly Mawlid a sign reads ‘Majlis al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah’.

5. Mawlid everyday:  Mawlids are held outside of Rabi al-Awwal and some scholars of the past are said to have held them everyday in the evening in their homes.  As with other lessons Mawlid gatherings are perhaps held once a week due to peoples time commitments and inability to attend everyday.  Thus to argue that they only take place in Rabi al-Awwal is incorrect and misleading.

6. Ignorance:  Cutting and pasting long articles on bidah and just repeating the flawed argument “Did the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) hold Mawlid gatherings” betrays an ignorance of what the sunnah is.  Our question to such people is:  Do you regard the words and tacit approval of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) as constituing the sunnah? if so why have you mentioned only actions? If you do agree with us with the prophetic words and tacit approval being from sunnah then how can you claim that organising gatherings where the sirah and qasaid are read is not sanctioned from the sunnah?

Note:  The scan of hadith at the top of the post was highlighted by Shaykh Abdullah al-Hussaini al-Hashimi from Makkah in his work on the Mawlid, may Allah (Most High) reward him abundantly.

O Allah, send your blessings and peace on the light which manifested in this month.
Wassalam

Fiqh and Shariah about Mawlid

Its known fact if you have bothered to study the basics of Shariah-Law and "Fiqh-Islamic Jurisprudence" that every action is called Mubah (Allowed) unless it can be proved Haram (Prohibited), im not talking about the Haraam open actions which are Well known and established of eating Haram food and drink and so forth, here But actions which are not known or mentioned.
Islamically in Usul ul Fiqh anything or action in Islam falls within the following 5 categories of Fiqh:

1. Fardh (Wajib): This category is a must for the Muslim.
2. Mustahab/Mandub (recommended): This category is recommended for the Muslim.
3. Mubah (Allowed): This category is left undecided and left for the person.
4. Makruh (Hated): This category is a detested and hated.
5. Haram (Prohibited): This category is prohibited for the Muslim.

Now if you dont even know that islamic verdicts-(decision on an issue of fact) are based that eveything Mubah (Allowed) unless proved or known otherwise, which is just the basic of "Fiqh-Islamic Jurisprudence", people then need to keep their Personal opinions to themselves as its Haraam to give a "Personal opinions" and its Haraam a bigger SIN to Slander Muslims, that are doing actions which falling into the categories of Fiqh of Mandub (recommended) and Mubah (Allowed).
As for the uneducated Muslims that ***Slander Muslims about celebrating Mawlid***, its Haraam from the Quran to Slander Muslims (Surah 104:1 "Woe to every slanderer.."hammaz is the arabic term) for celebrating Mawlid.
What because Muslims want to express their happiness for the Beloved of Allah peace be upon him, that they chose a day for this, How from the Shariah and Fiqh is it Hararam Give me Daleel from Quran and Sunnah its Haraam, when its actually Sunnah to do Mawlid its part of you Aqeedah-Belief as a Muslim SHOW your LOVE for the Beloved of Allah peace be upon him.
Also the Daleel for doing Mawlid is his Name Muhammad Means="The MOST Praised Worthy". open your eyes and go study the Mawlid and its daleel see the hadith link below too.

My Naseeha for all the Brother and sisters is this about Mawlid is simple, DONT Slander Muslims about celebrating Mawlid and if you don’t want to join in then DONT but DONT say its Haram, for its HARAAM to say that as you are directly Slander Muslims about celebrating Mawlid, which islamically fallings into the categories of Fiqh of Mandub (recommended) and Mubah (Allowed).
***SO BECAREFUL AND BEWARE ABOUT SLANDERERS AS THE QURAN SAYS***
****The Islamic Ruling On Slander****

Allah has said:
"A slanderer going about with calumnies." [Qur`an 68:11]

"Not a word does he utter, but there is a watcher by him ready [to record it]. [Qur`an 50:18]

"Woe to every slanderer and backbiter." [Surah 104:1]

"And those who annoy believing men and women undeservedly, they bear the crime of slander and plain sin."[Qur`an 33:58]

***What Should Be Done With The Slanderer****
Do not believe the Slander-Namaam for he is an evil person and his testimony is rejected. Allah has said:

"O you who believe! If a Fasiq person comes to you with news, verify it lest you harm people in ignorance." [Qur`an 49:6]

As for those who want Daleel from the Sabaha celebrating Mawlid

Madaat-support/assistance through blessed Nalain Shareef

The Nalain Shareef - Increasing Love  of Prophet (and getting Madaat-support/assistance through the Tabarrak-holy relic “The Sandal” of the Prophet Muhammad (sallalahu alaihi wa sallam) In Arabic the Prophet’s sandal is known as ‘Nal al-Nabiiy’. Also its mentioned that one of the names of the Prophet in the ancient books is sahib al-na`layn or “The wearer of the two sandals.”

The Nalain  Shareef are the Sandals of the Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam), which were used by the Prophet (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) in His life. Below are some of the ‘barakah’ blessings one can acquire by keeping and honouring themselves with a copy of the sacred Nalain shareef. Not the actual or original Blessed shoe/slipper of our Noble Prophet (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) but a cut out man made paper copy. Because the intention is to make and shape it to be in the manner of our Prophets it holds such value and is revered as it has nisbah with the ‘Nalain Paak’ worn on the Noble feet of the Greatest of Mankind.

An original pair of the Prophets (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) ‘Nalain As Shareef’ have been kept and safeguarded in the Famous Islamic Museum the Blue Mosque in Turkey. The Image or photocopy which you see in the post is a copy/print are impression together with the description of the Blessings obtained by the Nalain  Shareef.

They are a lot of Blessings to be obtained by the Nalain shareef and to be kept in a purse for barkat or framed in a wall is very popular. Abu Ishaq said: al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, son of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq  R.A, said: Of the proven blessing of the likeness of the Prophet’s sallallahu alaihe wasallam (S.A.W) sandal is that whoever has it in his possession for tabarruk, it will safeguard him from the sedition of rebels and the mastery of enemies, and will be a barrier against every recreant devil and the evil eye of the envious. If the pregnant woman holds it in her right hand at the time of labour, her delivery will be easier by Allah’s change and His might.

Al-Qastallani relates the account of a pious shaykh by the name of Abu Ja`far Ahmad ibn `Abd al-Majid:

I cut the pattern of this sandal for one of my students. He came to me one day and said: “I saw a wonder yesterday from the blessing of this sandal. My wife was suffered from a pain which almost took her life. I placed the sandal on the spot of her pain and said: O Allah subhana watallah (S.W.T), show me the blessing of the owner of this sandal. Allah cured her on the spot.”

al-Munawi and al-Qari mentioned in their commentary on Tirmidhi’s al-Shama’il that Ibn al-`Arabi said that the sandals are part of the attire of prophets, and the people only left them due to the mud in their lands. He also mentioned that one of the names of the Prophet in the ancient books is sahib al-na`layn or “The wearer of the two sandals.”

Certain great Sahaba’s have distinguished themselves with serving the noble sandals. It has been reported by Ibn Sa`d that Anas (Allah be well pleased with him) was the keeper of the sandals of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace).

And Imam al-Salihi reported that `Abd Allah ibn Mas`ud (Allah be pleased with him) used to get up as soon as the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) sat down, and would take off the His sandals, and place them under his own arms. Then, when the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) would get up, he would put them on him. He was often called ‘the Caretaker of the sandals, couch and water bag’.

 Hadrat Fatima Zahra (Radi Allahu anha) who went to the resting place of her Beloved father (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) and taking a handful of dust put it to her eyes saying;

“One who smells the dust of the grave of the Most Beloved Messenger (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) of Allah would not need to smell any other perfume in His life, Such calamities have befallen me that if they had descended upon days they would have fallen into nights.”

The Ulema and the A’imma have requested that the Nalain Shareef (sandals) of the Holy Prophet (Sall’Allahu Ta’ala Alayhi Wa’alihi Wa’sallam) to be printed on paper and in books. An actual picture of the Holy Prophet’s (Sall’Allahu Ta’ala Alayhi Wa’alihi Wa’sallam) Nalain Shareef or an impression together with a description of the blessings is utilised to obtain blessings of Nalain Shareef.  There are many blessingsfor a person to keep a picture of Nalian Shareef with him.  This is not uncommon to see Muslims of all ages wearing badges in the shape of Nalain Shareef. The Ulema have commanded that it be kissed, rubbed over the yes or kept on the head.آ It can be used as mediation, cure for illness and has great blessings.

When Musa (Alayhi sallam) went to Mount Toor to speak to Allah Ta’ala he was asked to remove His sandals.آ However, during Mira’j when the Holy Prophet (Sall’Allahu Ta’ala Alayhi Wa’alihi Wa’sallam) went to see Allah Ta’alla He wore His Nalain Shareef but He was not ordered to remove them. Some people say that pictures of the Nalain Shareef of the Holy Prophet (Sall’Allahu Ta’ala Alayhi Wa’alihi Wa’sallam) are doubtful, that these pictures are made of the local ink and paper and, therefore, to kiss this picture is not permissible.

The picture of the Nalain Mubarak is the photocopy of the holy sandals, which were used by the Holy Prophet (Sall’Allahu Ta’ala Alayhi Wa’alihi Wa’sallam) in His life. It bears the description and the related story connected with it. We pay respect to the Holy Qura’an which is printed on the paper with ink or colour used in its printing. Both the paper and the ink are locally manufactured and these were not brought from the Heaven.

But we give due reverence to it believing it as the print of the Holy Qura’an and no other book.آ The respect paid to the printed Qura’an is in fact the respect paid to the Holy Qura’an, which was revealed to the Holy Prophet (Sall’Allahu Ta’ala Alayhi Wa’alihi Wa’sallam)It is mentioned in ‘Al-Kalam-ul-Auazeh’ that a venerable saint, Sheikh Ibn-e-Habib Elahiآ (Rahmathulahi alay) said:

“I placed the sacred impression of the Sandal of the Holy Prophet (Sall’Allahu Ta’ala Alayhi Wa’alihi Wa’sallam) over the abscess that did not get healed by any medicine. I got relief at once.”

The Image or photocopy which you see in the post is a copy/print are impression together with the description of the Blessings obtained by the Nalian Shareef. They are alot of Blessings to be obtained by the Nalian shareef and to be kept in a purse for barkat or framed in a wall is very popular.

Hadrat Fatima Zahra (Radi Allahu anha) who went to the resting place of her Beloved father (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) and taking a handful of dust put it to her eyes saying; “One who smells the dust of the grave of theMost Beloved Messenger (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) of Allah would not need to smell any other perfume in His life, Such calamities have befallen me that if they had descended upon days they would have fallen into nights.”

It is mentioned in Sahih Bukhari; That Hadrat Ali (karam Allahu wajhu) was cured of His eye ailment when the Messenger (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) of Almighty Allah applied his saliva to His eye.

It is also narrated that Hadrat Bilal (Radi Allahu anhu) used to rub his face on the grave of the Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam).

The practice of Tabarruk was common among the companions of the Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) the Noble companions gave the utmost respect to the relics of the Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) the companions May Allah raise their ranks, they used to seek blessings from the traces of the Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) during his lifetime and death.

They made the relics a means for cure in this world and acquisition of Divine Mercy after death. They obtained Tabarruk from His beloved Body, (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) which gave instant results.

Writers and poets wrote eloquently in praise of the noble sandals and in describing the feelings of ecstatic love for their wearer (Allah bless him and give him peace). Imam Abu al-`Abbas gathered a significant amount of these writing in his aforementioned work, as well as in his treatise Azhar al-Riyad

Imam Yusuf al-Nabahani recited about the Prophet’s sallallahu alaihe wasallam (S.A.W) sandals:
May the best of blessings and peace be upon the owner of these blessed sandals.

The famous Hindu poet, Dillo Ram wrote (who on his death bed, was visited by the Beloved Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), and accepted Islam):
